Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status through his pop-folk songs based on folk, many of them based in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, Denver fell in the love of Colorado and later settled in Aspen. More than a few people took the road through Colorado due to Denver's famous anthems to his adopted state. G. Brown, curator of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver is the only artist to represent Colorado. Denver was the Hall of Fame's first ever to be a member. He is now regarded as the embodiment of Colorado by people throughout the world. In my travels I've encountered people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform them that you're from Colorado the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was the top solo achievement after having performed in small folk groups. It was written, co-written and produced by Bill Danoff. Danoff first wrote the track to Johnny Cash's tune in thoughts, however Denver was aware from the very first time he heard first versions of the song that it was going to be an instant popular. Following the performance during a concert in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer recorded it just days later.
